I was stunned by the beautiful sunset today, so I went for a wander to see if I could find the best angle. Up the road was no good - I couldn't see the actual sun, so I decided to go down the hill and around the corner. And oh... my... god. I'll post some pics in a moment Smile
I met Wayne who came out for a chat, and he brought his lovely two kitties. Then he showed me around his garden and we discovered that he loves growing veg too. His wife came out for a chat too. Lovely evening for making friends against the most beautiful backdrop Smile

Morning All! I've just won another prize - I never win anything and this is twice in recent memory. Big Grin
Its another local charity - that raises funds for the Children's Hospital - treats for the patients etc.
The winners were chosen on an online Wheel of Fortune and I was the second name to be chosen!! That meant that I have 2nd choice from the prize list of about 65 items - all donated by local businesses. Choosing my prize was really difficult, some I could ignore easily - all the play park passes, sports events, special occasion hire, restaurant meals, photo shoots (even though I'm so photogenic), Christmas wreaths. I thought for a while about a trip to the PYO pumpkin park and a wheel barrowful of pumpkins, or having my haircut (desperately needed) but in the end I went for the Sweet treat box, probably intended for kid's parties more than mature people like me. Big Grin

I'd better enter a few more raffles before my luck runs out. Smile

Do you have to pose for a picture this time? If so you'll have to scrub up again, twice in one year is a bit excessive Big Grin

That's why I considered the Hair cut prize but you wouldn't have recognised me then.Wink
The prize that went first was a weekend in a posh hotel with breakfast. I really would have had to scrub up for that Wink That's why I ignored the restaurant meals too.

Evening All.Smile
My Children's Sweet Treat prize is being delivered on Monday afternoon - something to look forward too. Shame I'm not still working as Mondays in work were always the worst!
Collected a bag of free fiction books then went to Morries as I was passing the door. Swooped on a load of packs of fresh bacon - the sort that is sold by the rasher on a cardboard tray. They were priced at 25p, 30p, 40p and £2 a tray, with multiple rashers in each tray.
Talking to a lady who swooped in after me, and she spotted the deliberate error on the packets. Each one was priced for a single rasher, 25p for streaky, 30p for middle, 40p for back bacon and £2 for gammon. I weighed one of the packs when I came home and it was 300g. Not bad for 25p. We both left the £2 gammon on the shelf and took everything else. Big Grin
Before you ask - No, I don't eat bacon, but I know a man who does.Wink
I also bought 6 pots of Dianthus marked down to 37p each. They need some deadheading, maybe splitting, but they should look good next year, perhaps as edging to a path?

Evening All - or am I talking to myself againWink
Last night, Spud brought one of his hedgehog friends to play again - he carries it by its spikes. This time the hedgehog spiked Spud on the chin and drew blood. I hope it teaches Spud a lesson and he stops carrying them around.
I always put words in the mouths of creatures - as if they're in a storybook. I imagine the hedgehog is either grateful that he didn't have to walk all the way up to the house in his search for food, maybe he trips Spud up to attract attention and asks for a lift. On the other hand, he could be really cross because he has to walk all the way back to wherever he was found and Spud has interrupted his meal.
Its raining hard here now - we have a yellow rain warning (whatever yellow rain is - answers not required!). The ground is very wet, weeds are coming out easily, its just not pleasant being out there. I come back several inches taller with all the mud on my boots. Smile

I know how you feel Bren, we have several Robin 'spots' that shall not be removed; a cane with a tennis ball on top, a post remaining  in the ground that was once a support for a bird table long since crumbled, plus the 3 washing line  posts, at least they're useful.
