5 a day out of the garden

Well for breakfast (most days) 70g oats with spoon of honey and water plus 60g soft fruit out of garden (rasperries/red/black currants)

dinner today included onions and cherry tomatoes. Still got a few galina left. They keep very well and are good added to pizza or in salads. The grandson eats them like toffees. Their downside is the small number of fruit on each truss. Although they are determinate, I grow mine like a semi determinate and let a few of the armpits develop. I got just 6kg from the one plant but it took up about 4'x3' in the greenhouse.

Tea was sausage, mash and cabbage. the mash was potatoes/leeks and carrots all from the garden.
The OH went back for seconds of the cabbage. We don't have it too often.

Can't match 5 a day at the moment but I do have an apple a day with breakfast. In a week or so, when the stores run out, it will be frozen fruit from the freezer until the rhubarb kicks in.
Lunch (or Dinner to you) usually has lettuce/salad leaves and I'm eking out the last of the tomatoes (Gardener's Delight and Black Cherry).
Dinner (or Tea) may include leeks, onions, kale or beetroot.

I'm trying to include something homegrown in each meal, 5 portions is a bit more difficult in winter!! Must do better. Smile
