2024 - What I did today

Took some rosemary cuttings. Put pumpkin onto a board as it was starting to out grow its little block. Drowned some very unpleasant weeds ( red shank & montbretia ) in saltwater . The montbretia was growing in a pot of cranesbill that was given to me by a friend.

Its Transplant Tuesday so I planted out some Butternut Squash and CFBs. Didn't do the spring onions, they'll have to wait until tomorrow (Weedy Wednesday).
Took some compost from the Hotbin which is drying off at the moment, before I sieve it.

Dug the trench around the latest cottage garden bed. Started digging out the crescent bed.

Planted a couple more Emilie cucumbers in a pot in GH1.
Weeded part of the veg plot in celebration of Weeding Wednesday. Its been raining today so some of the weeds pulled out instead of snapping off in dry soil.
Pruned and tied in the tomatoes in the GH. Still waiting for a red one!

Planted out some DFBs in between the rows of broad beans which have been thinned out of non productive stalks.
Killed all my courgette and cucumber plants.

Went to the £5 Pantry then delivered my Postal Vote (which I'd forgotten to post) to the Polling Station.
I planted some Trombone Squash (finally), pathetic little plants. They'll never play a part in the Brass Band.
Weeded part of Veg Plot 4 (a mostly fruit plot).

Shaded and sprayed poorly plants. Put gh shading away in anticipation of rain early tomorrow morning. I'm glad I did as it's started to rain already. We sorley need it, my water butts are nearing empty and the ground is like concrete.

Moved the jalapeños that are in the chilli grow from the salad bar. Because the cover is disintegrating , so basically they were outside. So not doing well. Now in the polytunnel. Fed the polytunnel some cal mag.

Planted some Spacemaster cucumbers in GH2.
Cut back brambles in Strip1, where it meets up with VegPlot 7 (the round the corner bed)!
Did some weeding in VP5 as its Friday.
Picked mangetout in VP2.
Sieved some Hotbin compost in GH1 as something useful to do while its raining.

Rebuilt Graces climbing frame. Trimmed the edges all round the cottage garden bed. Well until the rain came in hard. Dug out a little more of the crescent bed between downpours as well.
