No bother veggie. We can still be freinds I hope even though we agree to disagree about diets! Whatever works for each. Smile

As a kid, did you link your little finger with your friend's little finger to show that you were friends?
I'm extending my little finger to you now. Big Grin Big Grin

I eat until I am full.Usually twice a day but sometimes only once.

The way I see it, in my diet, saturated  fat from fatty meat, butter, lard & dripping is my friend, not carbs, and is the reason I don't need carbs as the fat is turned into the glucose/ketones that my body needs by my liver and other associated internal organs.

I think that dietary fat causing obesity is a myth, whilst exogenous sugar/carbs are the real problem! High fructose corn syrup which seems to be in everything is the worst offender.
This works for me but others have different ways of controlling their weight, and if it works, and they don't become diabetic, good for them. Cool

Surplus calories from any macronutrient source are responsible for obesity. Highly palatable foods which encourage overeating are typically a combination of carbohydrates and fat, rather than either on their own e.g. milk chocolate, pizza, cookies, deep fried chips. High fructose corn syrup is much more common in the US than over here.

I won't dispute that animal products are nutrient dense, but high saturated fat intake is strongly associated with dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. There are also other issues with consuming a lot of meat, such as animal fat being the #1 source of dietary dioxin and dioxin-like compounds, and the formation of heterocyclic amines during cooking, all of which are carcinogenic. That's not to say I don't eat animal products either; I do, just not very frequently, although I did follow a high fat, high meat diet for several years in my 20s.

As for RFK Jr: weird isn't a strong enough word to describe him. Have a read about how he treated his ex-wife and his fascination with dead animals (and it's not taxidermy!). He also spreads vaccine misinformation around the world, which is going to lead to a lot of deaths and serious illness.

Weird is wonderfull! Big Grin I highly rate the guy (even though I got his initials wrong) Blush
One of my dislikes about the British version is the amount of carbs it feels are ok? There is no requisite for carbs in our diet, zero. Our body makes all the carbs it needs.Carbs are what make us obese (and Britain does have an obesity problem, albeit not as bad as the US) I wonder when ours was last updated?

The world would have a problem straight away if we all gave up eating carbs. I eat plenty of carbs and am nowhere near obese, may be 1/2 a stone over my teenage weight.

Are carbs essential though? Many people live and thrive, some on a keto diet, without them.Ask the question of AI "Are exogenous carbs essential for human life? and you may be surprised?People can flourish on animal fat and protein from the muscle meat of ruminant animals only.

I suspect the main reason this has come out now in the US is stated on the 1st page: "Diet-driven chronic disease now disqualifies large numbers of young Americans from military service, undermining national readiness .."
I doubt very much they are bothered about the state of health of young Americans otherwise.

Turn your question on its head and ask whether "animal fat and protein " are essential to human life. Clearly they're not or there wouldn't be so many elderly vegans in this world. You're just posing questions that give you the answers that you want to justify your diet, whilst ignoring the eating styles of other people.

My last sentence wasn't a question, it was a statement. It may not be in agreement with the British food recommendations  but it is true nonetheless! Carbs are non essential but take up a major part of the food recomendations.
