Homemade Cheese

I've gone off the idea!
Eight pints of whole milk in Morries costs £2.90, Organic is £4. Plus I'd have to buy Rennet which seems to be quite expensive if bought online - and I don't know any shops that stock it.
Even if the cheese was a success, as Moth says, I'd end up with 3+ litres of whey and since I rarely bake anything, it would end up as dog food. Back in the cupboard it goes - I'll use the muslin for jam making.

Of course, you could always go on to make ricotta from the whey.....

You'll never guess what I picked up today!! Another Cheese making Kit but this one is for making Vegan Cheese. https://www.bigcheesemakingkit.com/shop/...aking-kit/
Instead of using milk to make the cheese, the main ingredients are either cashew or macadamia nuts with almond milk,. Having soaked the nuts overnight, they're blended with tapioca flour, agar, salt and nutritional yeast into a liquid which is boiled up in a saucepan. then strained through muslin.
The kit includes lemon pepper, basil and paprika for varying the flavours of the cheese.
I need to price the nuts before deciding whether its worth trying!

Aldi 200g cashews £1.75. The recipes need 100g or 150g of nuts, depending on which "cheese" you want to make.
