As I searched the garden for my special trowel, I thought of you, Jimny!!
Its bronze and cuts through the soil like a knife. Bought it years ago at the Malvern Show and, apart from prising apart the ring that holds the trowel to the handle (my fault as I was levering up a rock, that I didn't know existed) its as good as new. A 76th. birthday card, never thought I would see it, with a bit of planing I could have bought all those cards when they were a lot cheaper

Same here, Bren. 
Spec, children's cards are cheaper than special age ones - buy a 6th Birthday Card and write 7 in front of it. I often do that.

Actually I forgot! My husband got be a sneeboer ( forgot how to spell it!) trowel last year for my birthday. I love it. That has a very sharp point and make digging in plants a doddle. Actually I can't believe I forgot about that - I usually get cycling gear;( even though I use the bike once a year.
