I went to put flowers on Helen's grave today and as my allotment is close by I decided to call in to see how stuff was growing? It wasn't long before I took may coat off and got cracking hoe-ing the weedy paths. It was a nice day so another layer came off and I raked up the majority of the weeds off the path and dumped them in my tumbler composter.
Enthused, I decided to hand weed some of the onion beds as it was too sticky to use the onion hoe on them. It was backbreaking work, but nice to get out in the sunshiny and windless day!
One of the beds of onions had suffered basdly with die back so I lifted the remaining onions and transplanted them in the other beds where there were misses. This has left me a prepared bed to sow my parsnips in. Unfortunately I hadn't brought the seed with me so it will have to wait until I am next at the plot.
After a couple of hours toil I was pleased with progress and the plot is starting to look like someone owns it again!
