I've given up trying to get rid of grape hyacinths, JJB. What I do now is when they finish flowering, and before they set seed, I grab the leaves in a bunch and give a hard yank. That pulls out quite a few of the bulbs, so it thins them out. The flowers are actually quite pretty and scented, but they do get everywhere. I can't believe people buy them either! Only the once, I'm thinking.
I haven't voted for blackberries, because while I wouldn't need them here (plenty of wild ones), if I ever found myself living where they don't grow wild, I would definitely have to grow some.
