What plants have you grown/planted that you now hate the sight of - and will never, ever grow again?
..............and why?

1. Bamboo.
I wanted a plant that screened the neighbours from my patio; something not too dense and I was offered a clump of bamboo. It seemed ideal, tall growing but moved in the wind, rustling sound complimenting the patio water feature. For a couple of years it was perfect, spreading but slowly and it gave me canes for beansticks.
Now, I hate it.  Its spread too far. Although its been cut down the roots are difficult to lift. All the cutdown canes are shooting and I've spent this morning snapping them off to weaken it.
Horrible, spiky thing - go back to the pandas. Can't even bring myself to buy bamboo toilet paper or fabrics. Don't want to support bamboo in anyway whatsoever.

That's better. Confused
Petunias.
Hate the sticky, nasty feel of the foliage.
Hate how tatty they look if you don’t keep deadheading.
Hate that they’re no good for cutting (even the ones that say “the world’s first petunia for cut flowers!”)
Hate how much space they take up.
Is that enough reasons why I won’t be bothering again?
Feverfew I hate the smell. I have almost eradicated it from the garden after 10 years.
Euphoria also already here. Hate it. It’s a thug and ugly.
Periwinkle another thug. That’s doing a good job of taking over the bed & the lawn.

None of the above will be going anywhere near my new garden.
The First 15 Never Again plants are going in a Poll to see how many of us agree.
Don't vote yet as we need a few more entries. Big Grin
Kiwi fruit - a thug. Climbs everywhere, impossible to kill. Still regrowing after about 10 years under a concrete GH base. Pretty flowers, nice fruit but.........there's a limit. No more.
Aubergines and I really mean it this time, all I ever get are pretty purple flowers not a fruit in sight.
Yep, aubergines for me too. We're over.

And, surprisingly... asparagus. I have discovered that I'm really not keen on them, and they're not keen on me either.

Broadbeans. What's the deal with them? Awful taste, Chewy texture. Bad and bland. Not for me.

Blackberries - I prefer to pick it in the wild, and hate thugs in my garden.
Red samurai carrots. They just bolt. Not worth the space.
Montbretia/Crocosmia
You've heard me rant about these ad nauseum. Pretty in small doses but they have not selfcontrol, just a desire to rule the world.
The sooner they go, the better.
