I didn't amd I've regretted it every since, tried covering it for years and it just creeped out the sides . Digging out spade fulls, hand weeding - nothing gets rid of it. I would weed kill several times and don't plant in that area until it's gone.
Sorry to everyone who doesn't use weed killer but there are some occasions when there's isn't any other options.
This photo was taken this week - ground elder amongst my rose stems. I just keep digging it away trying not to damage the roots of plants I want to keep. It's in my lawn too it's hard work.
