Have you noticed how American gardeners call "soil" ......."Dirt". Irritates me no end. Seems so dismissive.

.........and on a lighter note, older listeners may remember Arthur Fallowfield whose answer to everything was "I think the answer lies in the soil".

Soil only becomes 'dirt' when you get it on your hands and knees.
