I've invested in a new fruitcage and some insect netting. my wood framed cage is falling to bits and would take a lot to repair. Also, I do like carrots and beetroot and you can't get a good crop without protection now. I don't know how organic farmers do it unless in a big field only the edges get got. I'm going to go through my seed box this weekend and order fresh seeds as needed, particularly ones that I can save my own seeds from in the future.

A new pair of secateurs & new trowel, a hand sprayer, liquid fertiliser, weed killer (which I'm unlikely to use!), 4 rolls of garden waste bags (which will do for the dustbin), a pack of fleece covers for plants and.......you'll never guess - a planter in the shape of a pair of yellow RNLI wellies. Big Grin

I acquired two very small rooted cuttings of Photina Red Robin. They're only a couple of inches tall, so have a lot of growing to do.

Plus ordered some Swift sweetcorn seeds to replenish stocks.

I grew Red Robin from cuttings - without exaggeration its at least 15' tall. I need to cut it down a few feet or 10. Its also flowering at the moment. Not many people see those as they keep it well pruned for the sake of the red leaves.

I need a big bush for the front drive. The large box ball has been attacked by box moth again and I'm giving up on it. Getting rid will require some effort.
