Hi all,
I've had a bit of a break, but only because work has been totally crazy. I'm at a pivotal point in the project I'm employed to do, so work is just taking over completely. I've missed you all though
Prosperpina, it sounds like you're making a go of it! I hope you can find somewhere to live a little better than that soon! I am hoping to go to Sheffield either next weekend or the week after, so if you need anything bringing over, let me know
I have no idea how my allotment is doing - I've not had the chance to go for a while. I'm hoping to get there and find huge trombas and lots of squashes, courgettes and marrows for me to enjoy. Here's to hoping!
My tomatoes at home are going absolutely bonkers and have the thickest stems I have ever seen. I need to take off some foliage, because although I have seen flowers in there in the past, the foliage is so thick I can't see any fruit.

(Mid) Morning all!
Having spent a couple of hours yesterday removing virginia creeper from the top half of a house and all the shutters that MrPP renovated and painted last year I can confrm that it is not an ideal plant to grow up a second home! Then just grass cutting and shrub/border taming in a couple of houses.
Today just a gite changeover this afternoon. Will it be sparkly clean or grot encrusted when we get there? We've had both already this summer Horrid working in face mask and gloves but you literally cannot be too careful!
Have a good gardening weekend if you can

Artnoon all from soggy South Wales. Hardly been outdoors, never mind gardening!
I've been excitedly looking forward to the Red Arrows flypast today - the map showed them flying directly overhead, for the first time ever. I've been sussing out the best vantage points, puzzling over which way I should look - would they fly down to the west or the east. All time wasted as the flights been cancelled because of the weather. On the bright side, I probably would have been looking in the wrong direction anyway.
There were some buzzards doing a flypast - no coloured jet streams though!
Hope you're all having a good day - I've been up to my elbows in beetroot. A bit gory but it'll be worth it.

Morning all. Feel a bit more like it today as I have been ill for a week. Looking at the weather it doesn't seem as if I have missed much while I was stuck in bed.
Time to now try and catch up on lost time. I have managed to keep my greenhouse stuff hydrated but need to start harvesting stuff from the plot. Brought some courgettes home yesterday that were just short of turning into marrows.
On a lighter note, I made the most gorgeous Yorkshire puddings last night which were huge and tasty.

Evening all - proper Sunday today, lie in & cuppa T in bed.
The gite was average tidy yesterday although there was a panic as they hadn't left the keys or blipper for the gates in the box, but a quick text established they'd dropped them all into the big decorative jug in the hall! Why? Just a pile of laundry to do before next weekend.

Morning all, hope this finds you well! Just had 10 days in Ayrshire, couldn’t have picked a better period weather wise. Travelled around Dumfriesshire to places we hadn’t been to before and had picnic lunches as I’m still too nervous to eat in anywhere! Back to the grind now! Whisper it, but Scotland really is a beautiful country, especially in the sun!
Hope you have all been enjoying the good weather too...off for a catch up, see you all later! x

Glad you had an enjoyable holiday Jay
Loving the cooler weather and less watering. It wont be long before I start putting the two productive plots to bed and start on taming the other two. Plot 3 will be flowers and fruit when finished and plot 4 will be a community plot to grow fresh produce for the local elderly.
By having the community plot it will be a home for the excess sowings I make every year
Have fun

How's the weather treating you all today? Its wild here - trees thrashing about in the garden so I'm not going out to look for damage. I know there are 2 trees on the deck down the road and first left - in case you want some wood for your fires!
Emergency services searching for 2 people missing in the river here - so stay away from the water and high trees please. A face mask won't protect you against these.

. I hope the two that the two people in the river turn up alive and well.
