Called at plot this morning and was pleased to see that most of my planted onion sets are showing green and none have been pulled out by the birds (crosses fingers I haven't jinxed them?) Rolleyes I checked the broad bean plants which are just crumpled up in a lage tub and the beans seem to be ok so I will plant them out when I get a chance!

The flower seeds I sowed are just a gift that keeps on giving! It's hard to believe that it cost me £1 each fo two boxes of seeds and a couple of packets I got free with a magazine! They have flowered non stop all summer and into autumn and with a bit of luck will cast there seeds for a similar diplay next year for nowt! Cool Some are on there second flush and others on there third flush I think!
They gladdedn my heart so I had to take more photo's but unfotunately I am unable at this time to upload them! Angry

Just checked my last entry? is it that long since I have been to plot?...........I think nott? I always call at least once a week but sometimes vey little is done and it's not woth writing about.
Today I went to B&Q first to get some Aquadulce boad been seeds. They had an 'E' letter on them but no chart to let you know the cost of each lettered packet? Sod it says I, I'll do without as I like to know the pice of stuff before buying, and wasn't pepared to walk from one end of the shop to another to enquire. Rolleyes

Thinking I would have to use my self saved 'The Sutton' seeds I took the bucket of plants into the geenhouse to sort the seed from them. In the meantime I opened my seed box to find TWO packets of Aquadulce broadies that I had fogotten I had. One pack had plumper seeds so this is the one I used.

I spead a layer of compost in a large plant pot to hold moistue then spread the Sutton seeds over it to hopefully plump up and start geminating? The planter is about 15 inches high so hopefully this will deter the mice fom feasting on them?

I had peviously pepared a bed I wanted to use for the Aquadulce broad beans, so I scored three shallow trenches down the bed and planted the seeds abut 6 inches apart and pushed them into the soil with my finger and coveed up. I then took the heel of the  rake and tamped down the rows so soil would get a good contact with seeds and also to deilniate rows.
Than job done I started hoeing weeds in other beds.
My allotment neighbour is giving up their plot and asked me whether I wanted a 'tumbler' compost bin? Not knowing what one was I said "Thank you vey much" and collected it. You can't have too many compost bins in my opinion Smile

Afte a bit of hand weeding in the onion beds I decided to call it a day. My neighbour also said I could have the aluminium geenhouse if I wanted, which I declined. I did ask if I could pinch a couple of panes of glass from it to repair mine though and they wee happy for me to do that! Cool
