My doing something new is very exciting today. I put our wheelie bin out for the first time .
Since we moved into the caravan we’ve been taking our rubbish & recycling up to the commercial bins at the end of the road. Finally our council tax has been sorted out and we can put our bins out. We only actually have the rubbish bin at the moment. Because we acquired one ages ago. Which is lucky because we have to pay £42 for one of those. Even though it’s a new build and not just a replacement bin. The other 2 bins recycling & glass are both free. But we’ve not been provided with those yet. Which is also quite annoying as the glass recycling is due for collection tomorrow. That’s only collection once a month. Not that it’s really a problem. We don’t use very many glass products at all.
Who knew bins could be so exciting

It's not exactly 'new' now but every time I take Bluebell out it's like I learn something new. She was making a soft bong noise occasionally and I had no idea what she was trying to tell me. I figured it out yesterday. She was telling me I had changed speed limit area. Gone from a 30mph to a 50mph, she alerts me to a change. She also bing, bing, binged me for something yesterday, quite alarmingly but once again I've no idea what for. Every day's a school day.

My plan was to use a plastic tub as a cloche! https://gardenandgossip.org/showthread.p...2#pid67362

Going to a house clearance sale today. Never been to one before. We’ve had one, but never been to one.

Not exactly new, as I did this 2 years ago and today, I did it again..................I went to Specsavers.
The good news is, my eyesight has hardly changed and I still only need reading/computer glasses - the same ones that I bought 2 years ago. Happy days.

I need to do that. They keep telling me I just need reading glasses and that my eye sight at a distance doesn't warrant having glasses, but I think I can't see!

My something new - I went to a funeral. My cousin, Little Roger. Fortunately, I haven't been to one for several years. In fact, its so long ago that I struggled to find something dark to wear - in the back of the wardrobe. The biggest problem was finding shoes that were comfortable as its a long, long time since I've worn "posh" shoes.
Eventually, found a pair of flat, black shoes, a trouser suit that was my neighbours and a dark wool coat that came from who knows who?
The service was in a little village outside Cardiff. I lost my way but got there just in time, while they were singing the first hymn. During the "stand up, now sit down" episodes I kept noticing the dirt on the carpet - big lumps of black stuff. I thought it might have been brought in on the wheelchair, at the end of the row, However, each time I looked there seemed to be more dirt. Curious!
When we stood to follow the coffin, I realised what the cause was - the soles on my shoes had disintegrated!! The outer rim was falling off and the sole had lost its outer layer!! I'd parked in a nearby pub car park and, as I walked back to the car, I could feel every stone beneath my feet. I was giggling to myself, which wasn't really appropriate after a funeral. But I'm sure Little Roger would have laughed too.
I'd planned to treat myself to a visit to a garden centre after the service but there was no way that I would venture out in public in soleless shoes, so it was straight back home and shoes in the bin.

I worked in the cafe today for the first time. Mostly pot washing, but a bit of food prep as well. I’m slowly starting to learn the ropes. As I’ll be doing holiday cover later in the year.

Did you enjoy it, is covering giving you concern or will it be a doddle. Figuring out how much of anything to bake or cook would flummox me. A cafe we go to always has lovely cakes scones and pastries and I can never figure out how they manage to have such a selection and still keep it fresh as it's not a big place, nor posh or very busy. It's run by a charity that employs disabled people and there's a charity shop next to it run by the same organisation (that's why my pal likes going there). They do a mean bacon, brie and cranberry pannini.
