2024 - What I did today

I had a minor operation yesterday and was told not to excercise for at least a fortnight and possibly even a month in case I break the stitches!

I had a look at the piece of me they cut out and it was quite impressive!

Excercising is my life and I'm sitting in front of the woodburner now thinking I will go stir crazy! Luckily I am still able to walk Kato to a limited degree, but will be counting the days back to normality!

Did they give you "the piece of you they cut out" to take home then??.....or are you looking for sympathy. ...........
I'm not known for being sympathetic so the best I can do is, Hope you're back to "normal soon.

Removed the last of my GH tomatoes plants, hopefully those last few toms will ripen indoors.

They wouldn't give me the chunk they hacked out as it is being sent to a pathology lab for analysis! Looked quite tasty actually and I am sure I could have cannabalised it and not wasted the meat!

It was on my right flank and the only time it bothered me was when I used the Hoola-hoop at bootcamp,so it should improve my hoola hooping in the futue!

I'm trying not to imagine your antics with a hula hoop, with or without a bit of missing flank. !!

My day was spent hacking further into the jungle. I can see light at the end of the tunnel! Speaking of which, I found a useless solar light, a relic of when I had this brilliant idea of putting solar lights down the garden so that I could find my way around after dark. Needless to say, it didn't work as the trees stopped the sun from charging the batteries.
There's a diseased young ash tree in my way, that will need to be cut down. Its tall but not very thick so should be able to fell it. Its the first time I've seen a young ash tree with the diamond shaped marks that are evidence of Ash Dieback. I still have one huge old ash tree surviving - two have been cut down because they were dropping limbs and dangerous.
I planted a hardy fuchsia in this area about 20 years ago and its been swamped by brambles etc. Lots of branches have spread at ground level and I had to hack through them as they were a real trip hazard. I never realised they could grow so huge.

Yesterday was another good day at shed building. The structure is now in place and secured to the ground. It’s taking longer to put back up because, obviously it’s now it’s in its permanent position and getting done properly. Also we’ve changed it from a front opening to a side opening. Just needs cladding, roof and door going back on. That will have to wait until tomorrow. Breeze is going to work today. The local pheasant shoot. So Breeze & Bob will be having fun and I’ll be entertaining a scared skew, while doing things for the end of next month.

Yesterday was preparing for the arrival of the new thornless baby. The blackberry. I've limited space due to thug but I'm not burning my boats with thug until Columbia starts taking off (is she a space shuttle methinks?). I dug up the 2yr old unproductive weedy looking tayberry. Well, it's unproductive for me, as I think wildlife of some sort had any fruits before I had a look in. I didn't realise the tayerry fruited around the same time as raspberries and are therefore more attractive to birds etc. The thug fruit never get touched, or at least if they do, I dont notice it because there's so many blackberries. I moved tayberry to a bare spot in the bottom fruit cage and gave it bed of well rotten manure to sit in. At least it's safe from the wildlife there ....maybe. Columbia will go in the same spot as tayberry but we (I mean him) dug a fine new deep and wide hole especially for the new baby. She won't be able to say she hasn't got good root room. After that bit of fun it was vacuuming loads of copper beech leaves out of the flower border. We're forecast rain most of the day so I don't think Columbia will be planted today.

By the way Vinny, hope your flank regrows to your satisfaction and you can get back to hulahooping soon. I've a image in my mind of you in a hula skirt. It's put me off my coffee! All the best for a quick recovery. At least I'm sympathetic, sort of.

Vinny would chair aerobics work for you until you can get back to your usual workouts.

You can burn ash wood without needing to season it!
