What do you intend to do with it?

Grow it alongside my other 2 . That a friend germinated in lockdown. Next year they’ll have their own bed in the tunnel. But the will have to share with my lemons, blood orange and pomegranate.
No idea how long they take to mature / fruit. Or if they even do in this country.

Mine has finally poked some tiny little leaves out about the stone. Its doing alright for an avocado baby that is still sitting on the windowsill wrapped in kitchen paper. In other words, I haven't done anything with it yet!
The two plants in the GH are OK, having survived the winter.

They’re a lot tougher than you think they should be. One of mine spent the winter actually outside. And it did a little better the one I put in the caravan.

I've just peeped into the avocado box and found 2 more with long roots, raring to be planted. Tomorrow's job.

Stupid question time . Well 2 actually .
1. How many avocado plants do we actually need?
2 Do you know how long before they are mature enough to fruit?
Ok 3 questions
3. Will they actually fruit in this country ?
I’m going to research 2 & 3 . I don’t know their is an answer to 1 .

Ok so the short version. About 10 years to maturity. Still unlikely to fruit in the uk.

There are fruiting avocado trees in London - if they can do it, we can, SC. Not sure I have room for another 10m tall tree. Having said that, I'm not sure I'll be doing much gardening in 15 years time.

Oh, wow ! That’s big ! I’m starting to re think my life choices . I might have a fight on my hands if I plant it into the “tropical” bed in the tunnel.

And to answer my own question from earlier. 3 is enough. For me anyway.
