Yesterday I put some pumpkin seeds in the airing cupboard to chit. That's as much gardening I could face in the heat.

Planted out the additional climbing beans I sowed to beef out the bedraggled ones I planted last month. Very happy with the beans now.
Planted out Valentine sunflowers wherever I saw a gap in flower beds.
Planted the Miniature White cucumber to replace the earlier ones which died.
Planted out the Rainbow and Bright Yellow Swiss chard.
Took a cutting of the dark Aeonium houseplant and left it to dry off.
Found two thick 20cm side shoots I'd somehow missed on the Gardeners' Delight tomatoes, so I snipped them off and potted them up. I'll find a spot for them somewhere.

Pricked out sonata pinks seedlings, sowed some more. Pruned out lower leaves, tied in and armpitted toms. Picked veg for dinner, MT, courgettes, broccoli & broad beans.

I had a lovely lunch today! I used some of my homegrown Sungold tomatoes in a toasted panini with mozzarella, pesto, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. It was so delicious and refreshing

Mowed the lawn, spread the clippings around the recently planted squash and chard.
Made a bamboo teepee for some Ipomoea Lobata and Canary Creeper to climb up. I was planning to have them against a wall, but the Canary Creeper has self sown so successfully there from last year that I didn't have space for the ones I'd sown in pots. So it's a bonus teepee where I found some space between the dahlias.

Transplanted some orchids from veg garden to the wild flower strip. Potted on a few more plants. That are still waiting to go in the ground. Fed the polytunnel. Pricked out some mazuna and red frills mustard. Collected a watering can of sea water. Did a bit of dead heading. Tied marker string round some of the lupin stems. Then I’ll know which ones I want to save seeds from.

Picked and processed broad beans for the freezer with the aim of clearing a bit of land for DFB.

My task today, should I choose to accept it and I don't self destruct in 30 seconds, is to sort out the Orangeto tomatoes and try to gain some sort of control by judicious pruning of armpits. My fingers will been as geen as the Hulk's backside when I've finished.
