I know she’s a very popular variety and lots of you grow her.
Do we pinch out side shoots or let her do her own thing?

I leave her to her own devices - I trust her to behave like a lady!

Thanks for asking that SC, I'm growing Beth alpha for the first time this year, I will have to consider what to with her as she grows.

I have been very jealous of the reports of other people eating cucumbers already. I can now report that my Beth Alpha in the GH has a baby, she gave birth entirely on her own without me knowing, I have a baby cucumber! . Looking at the other varieties I see they also have a few babies at last.

My Beths are little floosies.
Each one is with child. Two have been taken into care (in a sandwich) already. Another one will be delivered tomorrow.

Do I remove the male flowers from Beth Alpha, does it matter if I don't? Should there even be any male flowers?

Yes there are male flowers but I don't remove them. My Beth's have gone into male flower mode - not many females at the moment.

Looking at 'tinternet they produce males under stress and yes they should be removed. It's mostly males that cause stress in our house
