IN today came 3 sourdough loaves and a hunk of focaccia.
Collected them before I went to Argos to buy!! a new printer as the old one wouldn't talk to my Win.11 laptop and there were no drivers to update it.
I'm standing outside Sainsburys/Argos rummaging in my pockets and bag for a £1 coin. It was so busy there that there were only 3 trolleys left and I was anxious to find a coin before they disappeared. A man came along and took a trolley, saying that he only had one coin, sorry. Down to 2 trolleys now and I'm weighing up whether to go back to the car (in the rain) and look for some money or go into the shop and try to swap some loose change for a £1. Then along comes another man with a trolley and saved the day. He gave me his trolley and said that it had been given to him with a coin in and wished me a Merry Christmas! There was nobody around the trolley bay when I unloaded the printer so I couldn't pass it on - and I had no intention of going back to the store in the rain to park it there.............so I'm £1 better off. IN today came 3 boxes of out of date food - one box was full of macaroni, pudding rice & other pastas and rice. There were tins of soup, jars of dripping and goose fat, cooking sauces, pesto, olives, stock cubes, coffee, Earl Grey tea bags, jam, tinned fruit and beans, a Christmas pud, fudge, ginger biscuits, glace cherries and more.
Going OUT tonight, hopefully, will be the macaroni, pudding rice, drippings and various other bits that won't be eaten here.
The old printer is also going OUT tonight.

You can get key rings that have a pound coin shaped thing on them so your next without it . I got mine from British heart foundation charity shop. Many years ago. I’m guessing they still do them. No more standing in the rain.

I already have some of those tokens but they were in the car! You don't need them in Morries so assumed that Sainsbury's wouldn't need them either. I'll be better prepared next time - the Free £1 is in my bag ready.

You've got me thinking? When I 'weighed in' my sweetie jar money I had some old round £1 coins returned. I dare bet an old pound coin they would fit into a trolley slot as I don't think they would have changed the coinholders when the coins changed?

The old coins don't fit Aldi trolleys as they changed the coinholders. Haven't tried any other shops.
I read once, that an old yale door key fits a trolley so I have one of those in the car too - still haven't tried it!

Must admit that at Aldi 9 times out of 10 I can usually find a free trolley! Cool

Last time I went to Aldi someone had put two 20 pence coins in the pound slot, they were wedged in. It meant a free trolley for me.

IN came 2 packs of mushrooms, 2 genoa cakes, 3 loaves, pitta bread, taramasalata and 8 packets of chicken sandwiches. The dogs are impressed.
OUT went some packs of rice and pasta - I have far too much for me to eat.
