Standing hanging the washing on the line and feeling a tickle on my leg and expecting to see an annoying fly it was actually a purple emperor butterfly Heart ! Haven't seen one for 2 years, and no, despite my never go in the garden without my phone rule, I didn't have it with me so you'll just have to take my word for it.[Image: dodgy.png]

I finally managed to stop at that layby on the dual carriageway that has the beautiful creamy yellow hollyhock or foxglove. Jay stopped the car in the layby and it was much further to walk than I thought LOL
I managed to snap off a few stems and run back to the car. If they're not viable seeds, I'll go back and get some more lol

The random cine-reel my parents found at my Grandma's house came back from being digitised and I got to watch it yesterday. It was my Grandparents' wedding, of which I've only ever previously seen a couple of photographs. I've never seen my grandparents in motion when they were so young - a very different feel to looking at old photographs, even if it is still black and white and silent. And not only my grandparents, but my great grandparents and great-great grandparents too! So, seeing ancestors born when Queen Victoria was still in her prime. Really remarkable.

What a wonderful record to have. What year were they married? I'm trying to imagine it.

I think it must have been early 1953. My Grandma was 23 and very beautiful, and my Grandad a couple of years older. My great uncle (my Grandad's brother) was still a schoolboy in shorts. I just about remember my great grandmother but she died aged 90 when I was very young (maybe 5) so it's wonderful to see her middle-aged and happy, and my other great uncle who died a little over 20 years ago.

Thanks Pros. 1953 was the year of the Coronation so I can imagine the clothes they were wearing. Fascinating.

I found a ripe strawberry. The pots of forced early spring strawberries from the gh have been languishing (another term for being abandoned and neglected) around the garden, they get watered occasionally if I remember and I've noticed at least two pots/plants are sporting flowers. I moved one over to make room for something else and found a large ripe strawberry. I didn't know they could fruit twice in a year.
