I can see how the Boss gets his answer but I was approaching it from a totally different angle, counting days she'd been alive an so on, and then getting the wrong answer

I started doing it the long way round too and got completely lost and then I twigged how simple it was! (Before I posted it, not after I read the Boss's answer).
