Puzzle a Day! - Veggie - 12-09-2021

I've been given one of those 365 day puzzle blocks. The first 11 puzzles are missing as the previous owner gave up on Day 12.Big Grin

Here's the first puzzle!

Reminds me of ages ago when one of the daft lads was taken to the dog races for the first time by the wide boys from the engineering shop.
Auld Freddie used to back 5 and 2 on domino cards all the time. At the races he backed his usual trap 5 and 2 to come 1st and 2nd.
It was nip and tuck throughout the race with 5 winning then 2 and vice versa. At the end of the race they all went over the line together and the announcer announced  it was a blanket finish!
Daft Freddie asked the lads "What happens now/" They piped up "Well Freddie, as it was a blanket finish, they throw a blanket over the dogs and drag one out.........that's your winner!  Rolleyes

I'll go with 13 as well unless it was over the jumps! Big Grin

Not a clue, permutations were the bane of my life in maths.... I could goggle it though and appear ever so clever. Big Grin

I have the answers but I didn't look until I'd worked it out (or thought I had!).
Grab a bit of paper or P and come up with an answer. No prizes whether you're right or wrong!

I worked it out at 12 initially then realised there could be a dead heat blanket finish! Rolleyes

Think I can get 16 as long as everyone finishes. But we'll see, I may have missed something.
