courgettes (5 plants +1 self seeded) 1 cake, several meals, 9 in the fridge and 6 half marrows.

My courgette plants have finally started to 'take off' but the squash are a bit of a washout.

Picked my first courgette today, couldn't tell you what one

Does anybody grow gherkins ?, my wife bought seeds and I grew some, getting these monsters. No idea what to do with them. Should they get to this size and turn yellow or have I left them on the plant to long ?

         

You should have picked them green. Once they turn yellow they're setting seed.

Re gherkins, the Americans sweet pickle them with dill. I remember being amazed in the 60s as a child going to a corner store in Maine and finding a huge barrel of pickled gherkins (almost as big as me) for customers to PYO, also facinated by the ice machine
