2021 What I sowed today

Just sowed 2 rows of parsnips, about 10 days later than last year which were as good as Mr. Kiplings cakes.

The 2 packets were both direct from Mr. F but one dated 2023 and one 2024 so I suspect 1 could be old seed. Will be really annoyed if I get poor germination in one of the rows.

Well the packet dated 2023 not viable in 2021. This is not really good enough, particularly with long germination seeds/short life like parsnips. Mr fothergill should have dated one 2021 and the other 2020 when I would have refused the one dated 2020. A picture of the rows shows a reasonably well row next to the onions (2024 packet) and very sparse next to it, not easy to locate in picture due to lack of seedlings. Would have been better if hoed and weeded but too wet yet. How many packets off duff seeds are they selling which wastes hours of time preparing a seed bed and sowing the seeds. It's too late now to think about resowing parsnips this year.

They must know that parsnip seeds grown in 2019 is only good till 2020 and no chance of still being viable in 2023, so why put 2023 on packet and sell direct to customers.

   

Direct sown runner beans and 2 varieties of DFB.

Put some mung beans into the sprouter .

Beetroot × 2, Turnips × 2, Kale, Wok Broc, Rocket, various salad leaves

Today I sowed some Golden Sweet mangetout.

Succession sowing of lettuce "Marvel Of Four Seasons".

Sown in the salad bar. Salad bowl mix, hot-n-spicy mix, rocket, peas, mustard & cress.

Sown about 20 lemon pips. Forgot to count exactly how many, but a lot.

Cold, windy and threatening to rain today - I wish it would just pour down!

I am supposed to be cleaning my floor so I've spent time on here and sown

Sweet William
Campanula bells? I think - will check that

I should have done more lettuce - mine are going bitter.

Sown some more radishes and spring onions.
