Why do some varieties get called F1 on some seed suppliers but no F1 mention on others? Can I check anywhere please?
I grew Rosella tomatoes this year from Premier and they are lush. Performed well, taste gorgeous, thin skin but not as prone to splitting as black cherry or black opal. I am saving seeds to share on here, but need to clarify if they are F1 or not.

Any advice please? This tomatoes really impressed me, so I would love to share them.

I think the jury is out on whether its F1 or not - probably depends on how much they want to sell the seeds for.
IIRC some members of another forum have grow it from saved seeds but I don't remember the outcome.

I hope they’re not for 2 reasons.
1 I’m also saving them because they’re lovely and for the seed circle on here ( bu@@er I’ll have to find a different variety )
2 I got the seed I’m growing from a seed circle in the other universe.

I saved seed from rosella a couple of years ago and as far as I can see they came true.

I think I grew them too but found they fell off the plants very easily - so haven't grown them again.

Rosella isn't an F1 as far as I am aware. There's no mention of it being a hybrid on the breeder's website - https://www.gourmetgenetics.com/tomato/tomatoes.html

I've grown these from self saved seeds and they were fine.
I know lots of people say black cherry split - they only do so if they are over ripe. I think they are deceiving as they have green shoulders and can look "under done" I would pick before they start loosing the green.
