I cut each one when it's ready to bring indoors. Once you start cutting it encourages more flowers to come I think.

i cut one last week I think, there's another ready to pick on the same plant now.

I have 2 heads open on 1 plant now they look lovely in the sunshine, they seem to move their heads to face the sun. I love these flowers really please my experiment worked, I will do the same again next year only I will grow more of them.
I've got two still in the running, and two that have no petals due to the wind.
I have given up :(
I noticed a third head start to open this evening.

Has anybody been feeding theirs, when I feeding my toms and chillies a seaweed feed I rinse out the watering can and use this on the sunflowers so they are getting some weak mild nutrients
I don't know about the competition but these were sown by me and given to my reluctant gardener neighbour.  TBH I didn't expect them to survive but she's done remarkably well to grow them this tall.  Only one has been lost to the wind.

First flower  Cool . This one is going to be a multi headed variety.

all mine are multi headed by the looks of it

I'm not sure what if any category these fit into...

Both are multiheaded. Usually the marsh tits take the seeds as they become ripe but we haven't seen them this year, perhaps because three neighbouring building plots/gardens have been cleared of almost all trees and scrub in the last six months.

Earthwalker - I've always grown this one. My avatar is a bee on an Earthwalker.

Velvet Queen - First time goring these and I was seduced by the picture of a deep burnt orange flower ...  Undecided

Tournesol in French because they turn to face the sun; all the fields face west by the end of the day and in the morning they turn to greet the sun again. Mine face in all directions!!
