My little 1 year old asparagus are doing so well. Even though they’re still very small and 2 or 3 years from harvest. They’re producing better then my 5 year olds .

Last photo focused on the back ones but you get the idea.

Do you keep them in pots SC or is that just to get them started? I ask as I believe asparagus have a long shallow root system so probably not best suited for pots?

They’re in pot to get them started. They will get potted on again when they go dormant. My mature asparagus are also in a pot.

I knew I wouldn’t be staying here when I planted it. When they all move, the plan is raised beds in the polytunnel.

Yeah same here.
I really must put the date on the label before I forget how old they are.

Oh ok, mine are not showing any growth whatsoever! I did move them from pots to a raised bed in November, fingers crossed.

I wouldn't raise the beds too high or you'll be in the same boat.

Which boat would that be?

Oh that boat . They’ll have to deal with it . They ain’t going in open ground, they’ll drown. The 5 year olds are doing fine in there 22” x 13” pot. I believe the youngsters are doing better because they’re a different variety.
