It won't be added to my seed list as once bitten twice shy! Good luck to those who intend growing it!

Not me, to much faff for not a lot of return. I don't know even if I like it.

Yep! I think they might be one of my scatter and wait and see seeds though. I don't have any deep soil unless I grew them in a pot so I'd be growing them for the flowers, not the roots. I'll find my seeds.

Think I’m going to try growing for both roots & flowers. They will be in pots. Do you think MFB would be deep enough?

Apparently you can eat the leaves too - blanched in spring they grow like chicory.
I've read that the roots contain inulin, and have the same effect as Fartichokes!!
Not sure about flower buckets being deep enough but I've no idea really. I'll be growing mine in the ground, just for the flowers and maybe leaves. Roots are OUT!

Causing the same reaction as fartichokes has definitely lessened my enthusiasm about trying them.
Flowers and leaves might be the way to go.

From memory when I grew salsify the flowers were very pretty, but short lived? I think for eating the roots they have to be left for a second year to fatten up?

I have scorzonera seeds for this year.
I dug them all up and ate them last time (a decade ago?), but I might leave some to flower. Assuming the voles don't eat everything below ground like usual!!
