I have been watching various online videos on growing onions....sad I know!
It appears American growers prune back the top growth by about 50% when the sets start to swell. This apparently stimulates the onion to swell more. Anyone tried it?
I am only the Boss because Veggie lets me be!

Yep, i tried half a dozen last year and found no difference, if not slightly worse. The logic is that more leaves make more layers on the onion. Didn't work for me and I won't be doing it again.
