With the tomato grow list thread appearing, and get the uncontrollable urge to sow far too many tomatoes. I’d like your advice again please. You all did so brilliantly last year, helping me choose my tomato varieties. I’d be nuts not to ask your advice this year.
I’ve written up a short list of candidates this year. They are-
tomato black icicle
tomato sweet casaday
tomato girl girl weird thing
tomato ananas noir
tomato juaune flamme
tomato piglet Willie
I only have space for 3 . Which 3 do you suggest?
Thank you

No good asking for my advice on that list - most of them are black tomatoes! I wouldn't grow Pigface Willie because he was a member of another forum - he saved the seeds on a holiday in France IIRC. They were passed around in Seed swaps and the name seems to have stuck. I didn't like him so anything with his name on is a non-starter.
I have grown Black Icicle from Scarlet. Its one of the tall, sprawly tomatoes. seemed to take over the GH.

If you want a variety of sizes I'd go for sweet casaday, annanas noir and jaune flamme. GGWT tasted OK but wasn't very prolific for me.

Jaune Flamme is supposed to be a good balance of intense sweetness and acidity, but it was mostly tart when I grew it. However, I am probably biased because I don't really like a lot of yellow/orange tomatoes, and other people seem to have enjoyed this variety a lot (which is why I bought the seed).
Girl Girl's Weird Thing is a great tomato: beautiful fruit, very productive and tasty. The first year I grew it I got 6kg from one plant. It's a mutation of Green Zebra and was named after the gardener's dog (Girl Girl) which kept eating the fruit.
I haven't grown any of the others, but I know Scarlet grows Black Icicle every year. Ananas Noire (i.e. Black Pineapple) looks beautiful and is supposed to be on the sweeter side. Sweet Casaday was bred by Tom Wagner, who also bred Green Zebra, and it's supposed to be very productive.
Being a big fan of beefsteaks I would go for Girl Girl's Weird Thing, Ananas Noire, and one of Black Icicle or Sweet Casaday (leaning towards Black Icicle, because I like dark tomatoes).

I've grown four of those varieties and would pick Jaune Flamme (medium orange) and Piglet Willie's French Black (medium reddish brown).
The third would be a toss up between Ananas Noir and Girl Girl's Weird Thing. They're both multicoloured beefsteaks and generally pretty similar.
