Carrying on from https://gardenandgossip.org/showthread.p...792&page=7
The bit I forgot to mention .
Today we will be dissecting the mill engine because it went bang! ( big bang !! ) . Luckily no pistons came through the casing. So hopefully it won’t be to expensive to fix. Fingers crossed everyone. We’re supposed to be milling all this week as well.
Before it went bang it tried to break my arm. It failed .But a little uncomfortable for a while there!
Oh yeah and the journey there and back was ……………. I have no polite words! The truck kept dropping into limp mode. Because it thinks it’s some sort of princess and can’t cope with the slightest little fault!
Even after all that. We both still had a really enjoyable weekend. Nutty?

That looks sore SC, hope repairs go well to both you and the engine. Just looked at the Aging Hippies site. I think I saw Bob in the background.

Hadn't realised you were taking your Mill on holiday, SC! Assumed you were going to help others Mill.
You could call yourselves "The Millers of Mull".
Hope you get everything repaired (including your arm) quickly.

Well after dissecting the engine today. It’s beyond repair.
Anyone got a 16hp engine with horizontal 1” shaft, hidden away have you? .
As for the arm it’s absolutely fine. Just a funny colour and a little tender to touch. As for the ratchet handle that coursed the bruise. The issues have been identified as I’m vertically challenged and need a step. Because I was having to reach beyond what was comfortable. It turns out if you push to hard in a certain direction the brake can jam on the shoulder of the adjustment unit and not lock into place. Then everything gets a bit ouie a bit quickly. Also now we know it’s a potential issue we can be more ready for it. Because obviously it’s never happened before and it had to happen to me .

Maybe Vinnie has a spare engine? He seems to have all sorts of useful bits knocking about.
Is it going to be difficult to source one?

Is it going to be difficult to source one? Hopefully not, but………….
working second hand and getting to the island could make it tricky. If we’re lucky we’ll find one on the island. An engine out of an Argcat would do the job if we can’t find like for like.
