Haylage

I'm not really sure what Haylage is but I've been given 4 black bags of it - bought in error for soft hay for chinchillas - not really sure what they are either but their loss is my gain. Big Grin

My original thought was chicken bedding but, is there a better use for it?  Mulch, earthing up spuds? It seems to have seed heads so I'm not sure about spreading it around too much.
Any advice welcome. Big Grin

Haylage is not quite dry hay. It’s animal feed not bedding. Don’t use for your chickens. Mulch or Earth up spuds with it would be good. Feed mr greedy. It’d make great compost.

Haylage smells like ripe bananas - either that, or I have 4 bags of bananas with a few wisps of grass on top.
