New beginnings

I bought a house with my partner and for the first time in my life do I have more garden than I need. I will fill it, I'm sure, but here is how my little world looks in three minutes flat

It does looks a good sized garden with plenty of potential, your head must be buzzing with ideas and plans.

I lost count how many sheds and buildings there are.

There's a bit less lawn, massive new greenhouse at the bottom of the garden, but still that amazing view and I love that every day when I come for the eggs

Reading through this old post, when I last moved house makes me smile. But that has all changed - we did move again. And we moved far! In August 2024, we watched my sister's partner pull off our drive in his lorry with his friend that was so excited to come help us move, as they set off for the ferry in Immingham that was heading for Gothenburg, Sweden. We had a couple of hours of cleaning still to do, then we set off with two cars, with three dogs and two cats in one, and four cats in the other. We drove down to the tunnel in Folkestone, hit the wonderful little shop with all the included food, drink and goodies where we filled the paper bags that we were given. Then onto the tunnel, and we drove through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and then finally Sweden. It took us 38 hours to do the drive, but we arrived safe and sound.

We lived at my mum's farm for a couple of months which we rented up until that point, and then we moved into our forever home only fifteen minutes drive from there. Oh she's a beauty. We have a three bedroom house, double fronted with the typical red colour and the white corners with the most gorgeous veranda. It's a four hectar (40,000 sq meters) plot, with a pond either side of the driveway, two fields and lots of ground used for grazing at the moment. There's a chicken house that could easily be mistaken for a small cottage (and it will be our AirB&B eventually), a massive animal barn, and a three car garage. The house is from the middle of the 1800's, so we hope to be good caretakers of the old lady while she is in our possession.

The sale of our house in the UK has fallen through twice, so we have had to delay buying this house in Sweden until that happens.

I've missed being a part of this community at Garden & Gossip, but I have had little choice. It is an enormous task to plan and execute an international move. We have grand plans for the garden, and I hope to share it all with you, and get inspiration and a share of your wisdom in the process.
