A visit to Lip na cloiche

I went for a walk round Lip na cloiche this afternoon. It was a risk with the strong winds & snow showers. But it was lovely while we were there. And it was the most beautiful garden. Buy no means huge but on a steep slope so not easy gardening. Got some ideas for my new garden and I learned that there are so many different hellebore colours & sizes. I had no idea     .                  

I highly recommend a visit if you’re ever on Mull. This is the view from the top of the garden

Love this path made of scallop shells. Unfortunately a bit to sharp for doggie paws. So won’t be having that but it is lovely and it sounds great underfoot.

Great idea using the old garden tools as an edge.
I've seen cockle shells used as path mulch. They're a bit smaller underfoot and make that lovely scrunch when you walk on them.

I love the old tools and implements borders, also the old tractor seat.

There are a few bits from a Grey Fergie tractor in that retaining wall. I wonder where the rest is?

1. Yeah I was thinking a big vipers bugloss which is echium, isn’t it?
2. Yeah same sort of glossy thick leaves. Love the rounded shape of them.

I missed one! Is this a sort of Laurel? The flowers smell lovely.

3. Could be a variegated lavetarea? (SP. sorry!) I'm growing some at the moment - seeds from VC .....but they are small for that as they are perenials?

4. I think is a golden spirea - I have a few in my garden. I love the colour and they last for years.
