Couple of hundred grams each of Boltardy and Chioggia beetroot (once the leaves were cut off) and a few Paris Market carrots.

One of the carrots has forked into three (actually rather cute!) and my beetroot harvest has been disappointing - most of them are still too small to be worth picking unless I want to pickle them - lots of leaves, but they're full of holes and not very appetising.

Any advice? Should I blame the weird weather this summer? It's oscillated between baking hot and sodden here in East Anglia. Also I'm growing my veg in a couple of old raised beds, only about 6 inches deep (planning on replacing them with deeper ones over the winter as crops finish) - they were about half full of old soil and compost, and I topped them up with multi-purpose peat-free before planting.
How much veg and wildlife can I pack into a 6m x 8m garden in suburban Cambridge? Let’s find out!  Smile
