These are just some of the 2500 hens we are due to rehome on 12th September, a date we have stepped in at the last minute to help with to ensure the slaughter lorry is cancelled.
These hens live in colony cages and will never have experienced the conditions your back garden hens take for granted - the sun on their backs; scratching in the ground for bugs; running down the garden when they see you emerge from the back door; nibbling on fresh, sweet grass.
If you want to be part in helping them experience ALL their 'firsts', please complete the waiting list form on our website for one of the following collection points. We will need to see and approve photos of your hen accommodation and receive your donation (£2.50 per hen). I've offered a home to 3 hens - to keep Mrs Brown company. Just have to wait to see whether I'm a suitable "parent".

Found Ted telling Mrs Brown that she might have to share her bed with strangers. 

My Old hen run is now some of my raised beds and my large greenhouse. I don’t have space for any chooks these day and I’m not sure Max would be quite as accommodating as Ted. I hope Mrs Brown adapts to some fruitcake interlopers, she’ll have to teach them everything.

Yeah, she was proper loco Ginger, a very nervous bird who didn’t like being picked up I think that was mainly due to the fact she was always being picked on so I was picking her up to do some kind of repair work. She was a very funny thing though with her bit of fluff on top.

Did she ever lay for you, her green blue eggs were lovely.

I forgot she also used to crow like a cockerel.

You never warned me about her nerves - only about the green-blue eggs. 

She laid 2 - that was it!! You conned me, Mikey.

I just wanted her to go to a home where she’d fit in V and feel normal.
