Sowed some grass seed in the bare patches on the back lawn. P has been messing about breaking up the 'concrete' soil and de-mossing for days and finally got round to asking me to reseed (why I have to do it I'm not sure). Nevertheless, to preserve marital harmony I have done my bit. I had some old seed, some less old seed and some new seed, so mixed it all together and hoped for the best. Then it hailed and sunned and I had a double rainbow. The fairies must have been pleased with my work if they went to the trouble of painting two rainbows for me.

We had a double rainbow as well, JJB. Very nice reward for a crazy weather day.
We hosted another playdate so I'm pretty much at my maximum socialization level. Just before dinner went to the allotment to empty the bokashi bin and collected the new batch of tulips, which had survived the wind and rain admirably.
Kids go back to school on Tuesday so hoping for some time to attack the bindweed on the plot this week.

Potted up some kale seedlings - Sutherland, Shetland, True Siberian & Splis Bladene and a couple of Asturian Tree cabbage. Its odd how nearly all the seeds to germinate are the S seeds. I'll give the other modules a week to do something useful - if they don't their seeds will be found in a jamjar!
Sowed some tomatoes and cucumbers. Details in the Seed sowing thread.

Fishing today as supposed to be no wind? It was windy and I was fishing against it but still managed to catch a couple and kept one decent rainbow trout.

Dug up last of the leeks as need the space for the last of my maincrop potatoes. So now have enough space for 3 25' rows. Will chop up the leeks and put some in the fridge and rest in freezer for adding to mashed potatoes, stews, curries and anything else.

My Weed of the day was Sticky Willy/Cleavers but that turned into Cow parsley hunt as well. The ground is damp enough to pull up a lot of the cow parsley, some I had to help with a wiggle of the fork but, its very satisfying when a big tap root comes out intact.
I like cow parsley but you can have too much of a good thing - bit like montbretia and vinca.. Acceptable in small doses but you don't want a garden full of them.

Watered the tunnel. Which is very long winded as I fill up two trays with water. Then sit as many pots in them as possible. Just keep swapping them out for others that need a drink. Potted on a few tomato plants. Sown seeds.

I did a much less intensive form of watering the little greenhouses in the back. Fingers crossed all my recently potted on flowers perk up despite being turfed out of the house and put in new pots/modules. Sowed my last delphinium sed from the fridge with essentially no hope in my heart... Kids are back to school tomorrow so hopefully some seed sowing and parsnip seed chitting then.

The our council green bin with Ivy then potted up my spare Tom’s and found them a new home.

Lots of seed sowing. Pumpkins, squashes, sweetcorn, herbs, flowers, celery, bulb fennel... Many things. Now begging empty fruit punnets from the neighbours for potting on indoors and supporting the fibre pots in using (despite not liking fibre pots! I need space!).
