Following Mark's example, I found some old onion seeds so I brought some compost in to warm up and sowed some Bedford Champion, Ailsa Craig and Rijnsberger. They'll sit in the porch which I think stays frost free and basks in the morning sun, if there is any. P saw the small seed trays on the radiator warming and looked heavenwards, something like this with words to the effect of 'bubby 'ell its the start of the silly season'. He ain't seen nothing yet
I had better start the 2026 spreadsheet.

Not wishing to be left out, I've sown some onion seeds too. - Globo and Walla Walla. Two daft names for onions! Sown in modules that can stay indoors for a week or so.

I just asked the Duck why Walla Walla onions have that daft name! Apparently, Walla walla is a place in Washington State where they have an annual Walla Walla festival. It originated in Corsica and taken to Washington state by a soldier ..........

Interesting. I thought Walla Walla was somewhere in Australia. Every day's a school day. Thanks V.

Another boring reminiscence coming up! When I emigrated to Oz, one of my first jobs was in a Bank. Every day, bags of cheques and paying in slips would be delivered to the Bank and processed. For the staff's entertainment, I would read out the Branch names in my best Welsh accent. Wagga Wagga was one that they thought was hilarious. Its wogga wogga

Globo sounds like he might be a mate of Gollum's.

Today, I've sown some early tomatoes:-
Red Robin, House,Three Cheeses High and Rambling Red. I'll give these some time in the heated prop in the bedroom!
