I know we have vegetarians, piscatarians and possibly vegans on the forum so just wondered how different the Christmas dinners willbe for all? Will it be a traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings or some other version?
I personally class myself as carnivore but can vear towards ketovore at times like Christmas and other festive periods. I do usually draw the line at carbs, seed oils and ultra processed food though.
This year my plan is to have duck. I will also purchase a soup pack consisting of a tiny swede (chopped, boiled and mashed with butter and white pepper) carrots (glased in some way) Parsnip (cooked in the duck fat) and maybe a few roasties (also cooked in duck fat)
I am also partial to Christmas pudding even though its carb rich (soddit it's Christmas! along with a healthy serving of double cream!

For me, it will be the same as any other day. Whatever is Free, cheap or lurking in the freezer.
PS I'm a Freegan.

We usually have turkey or goose and all the appropriate trimmings. This year I don’t know what it’ll be. We’re having Christmas dinner with our neighbours. So no cooking. My perfect Christmas.

I don't like turkey or chicken in the past we've had pheasant, duck, lamb or fish. Not decided this year yet though.

Well, this last fortnight or more has disappeared for me and I've been thinking cancel Xmas. The main reason for this was I thought Christmas was far closer than it is. As it is, I'm turning more to the traditional dinner as usual. The lad always has lamb. There'll be Xmas pud but my usual marathon bake of mince pies is on hold.

I finished up buying two frozen ducks from Tesc*s quite cheaply
After cooking one on as trial for the big day,I have had second thoughts. The embarrasing main reason is that is it made me have smelly farts into the next day! With this in mind, and bcause its a family day on boxing day I think I will give the duck a miss.
So now it's a choice between a beef joint, pork joint, gammon joint or half leg of lamb, all of which i have in the fridge!
I know I can cook beef nicely so its the favourite for my Christmas dinner up until now?

It's that time of year again. This year me and Kato are going traditional-ish? . I have 'tailed' the 5p sprouts, cut the 5p carrots into slices, and 'chunked' the 5p parsnips, all of which are added to a single pan. In a bowl I have sliced 5p red cabbage (less than half of) sliced an allotment onion and added half a jar of whole cranberry sauce. I had a taste of this and it was ok in it's pre-cooked state as a salad?
Plan is to bung the turkey in the oven tomorrow from frozen, also add the frozen roasties at the time required and also take the parsnips out of pan once par boiled and after adding goose grease, bung them in the oven also.
I have made enough for both Kato and I and he will get a full plate full. It will be intersting to see what he eats and what he leaves as he is more of a carnivore than I am! The birds will probably get their share of Crimbo dinner with whatever is left. (No turkey will be left)
The annoyng thing is I have most of these 5p veg growing in allotment (apart from carrots) but at 5p, it was cheaper to buy them than the cost of travelling to allotment and digging them up!
If I have room, I have a Christmas pud and either custard or cream for afters.
My 'dinner' is what most of you lot call lunch and will be had at about 12.30! Merry Christmas and especially to Veggie with her beans on toast!
Oh, forgot gravy, I'll just work that one out on the day!
And Oh again, I have a wonderful treat for New Years Eve, an MRI at a hospital I have never been to before, what a treat that will be!

We are round to the neighbours again this year. For an early evening Christmas dinner. Which apparently will be roast chicken & roast ham with all the trimmings including Yorkshire puddings. Followed by I think chocolate orange cheesecake and or Christmas pudding.
