Made up some compost with coir, compost and soil, in anticipation of potting on some cuttings and an indoor yucca that's going to get slaughtered. I'll bung its tips into a big pot and hope for the best. Dug up and put into pots some errant Joan J with a view to digging up some of the naff summer raspberries and replacing them with autumn. Weeded round edges of flowerbed, picking out copper beech leaves as I go. They'll get mulched when P does all the others. Copper beech has now finished dropping its drawers and is looking rather motheaten. she promises me she'll be back to beautiful in the spring, after a bit of a rest.

Today felt like the first time I've done some gardening for a week. So nice to be out there, pulling up weeds and hacking with my favourite secateurs.
Even Robin came to sing to me and a squirrel ran around in the oak tree to taunt Ted.
Took down the Borlotti beans from their supports (in pots). I'll move the pots into the GH and plant some peas in them.to overwinter.

Hi all, I've been slacking in the garden and on the forum. I hope you're all well. Been to the plot today to plant our more than 100 daffodils and 50 tulips. Took some weeding first. Next up will be garlic, onions, shallots and elephant garlic. Also bought some peas to overwinter and have a few broad beans to sow. Really considered giving up the plot this year as it's hard to keep up with when the kids are home in the summer and we're busy with activities. Trying to motivate myself to get on top of things as I've decided to keep it.

HI DJ, welcome back. Glad you've decided to keep the plot - give it another year and maybe, as the children get older, it will become easier to cope?
We'll be here to encourage you

Collected some seeds. Bob strimmed the wildflower patch and raked it up. I cut back and weeded the cut flower bed.

I would use what you have raked up as a mulch on an other area you want to pomote a wildflowe patch as I bet three will be quite a few seeds left in it!

It rained all day so, instead of gardening, I emptied food cupboards and sorted the jars into date order . Found a few bits that I won't use so they'll be offered up soon. Would have preferred to be out in the garden!

Manged to squeeze in a wander round the garden, emptied trays of water, watering GHs where necessary, a bit of weeding, but nothing really worthwhile.

I put a protective cloche over one of the echium steeple. As we’ve had our first frost last night. I lost the white one last winter, so I’m hoping to get this one through the winter. I’m hoping once my garden is properly established and finished with a hedge round most of it, I won’t need to add anything other than a bit of mulch in place, to protect things.
