I've sown my Aquilegia McKenna Giant & Crown Jewels mixed. They've been labelled (see SC, I do know what theyre for  Tongue ) bunged them in an out of the way corner ready to be forgotten.

How did germination go?

I put my packet of Mckana's Giant in the fridge for 5 days then sowed on the surface of coir. Put a lid on top them left them in the hall for a few weeks. They've popped up quite well so now on a sunny windowsill in the kitchen.

Thanks for bumping this - I've been meaning to collect some aquilegia seeds from the plant at #2.
Just taken a big, used envelope down to the plant and snipped off most of the seed heads into it. Aahh!!. The satisfying sound of seeds rattling into an envelope.
What I didn't realise until I came back to the house and put the envelope down was...............there's a tiny hole in the bottom of the envelope where the glue has come unstuck!! So, unintentionally, I have scattered aquilegia seeds the length of the path back to the house.Big Grin
The good news is.........
1. There are still hundreds of seeds and
2. I like them - lots!!

Aquilegia are some of my favourite seeds. Tiny, shiny black, almost pyramid shaped.

I let lots fall in situ this year. When I did cut the seed heads off, I shook them on to the post box bed.
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

Carp!

They got, neglected,  dried out and knocked over. I intend to try again.

That's why at this time of year I just leave things in the hall or somewhere out of direct sun outside to germinate. Too much chance of the growing medium drying out, or the seeds getting cooked if you have a cover over them.
