You're never too old to learn, right?
I seem to be learning new things every day so I thought I'd write them down here, before I forget!! Please share things you've learnt too, no matter how small or trivial - maybe we can all learn from them

1. Montbretia spreads by seed as well as corms. The seedlings look like grass.
2. The spiky thing on a garlic press is for taking the stones out of cherries & olives.
3. Its better to put the wool insulation inside the pot, not underneath.

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

I learnt not to let a puppy jump up and bite my shirt, 'cos it hangs on for dear life by it's teeth. I've also learnt not to let it bite my fingers.
Nextdoor have a new field spaniel puppy. The whole story is rather sad. They had an adult dog, Harry. He was a lovely boy, kind, gentle & kindly. Nextdoor got a new bitch puppy to be his friend and to grow up with him. He took poorly one evening in the recent very hot weather and notwithstanding all the vets, consultants and treatments could do, he passed two days later. The owners were devastated, as were we. In the short time they had been living there Harry had become a real friend. Jasmine the new pup is now being taught her manners. She is a very different personality to Harry, far more outgoing and less laid back. We'll see how she develops. In the meantime she is adorable.
Gardening is an excuse not to do housework
