2025 - What I harvested today

Cucumbers, a courgette, various tomatoes. I picked the first Honeymoon tomato. I'm looking forward to tasting it, to see if it is as nice as I remember, with the bacon and egg for breakfast this morning.

Nectarines, figs and beetroot from a polytunnel. Going to check the plums, tomatoes and courgettes after dinner.

I don't think that is a fair taste test (with bacon). I would have thought that stewed tomato on toast would be a better one. My mum used to do that for my dad regularly for lunch in the summer.

Apparently the best way to liberate Lycopene from tomatoes is by cooking them?

I eat to enjoy my food not to be part of sone banner waving "Liberate Lycopene" group - whoever they are.

I have satisfied all conflicting views. I tasted it at room temperature,  then blitzed in the micro with the addition of salt and pepper, himself had bacon I did not. Yes it was very flavourful, not quite how I remembered. It lacked the almost sweet/salty taste of last year. I will leave the next one on the vine a bit longer,  I think. As it was a big blighter I couldn't taste test it in the gh.  I agree the warm sunny tomato does taste great.

Picked more beans, raspberries and even more cucumbers. Next year will be far more sensible on the cucumber front.

The early morning forage resulted in tomatoes, CFB (I forgot to pick those during yesterday's DFB hunt) and an overgrown courgette. There will surely be more as the day wears on.
