Swallows and their babies in the barn, flying in and out. It's lovely to see them having a home here

There seem to be an awful lot of horse flies about this year, I've killed dozens trying to take a bite out of me. The dry weather must suit them.

Our bird bath has just been visited by a pair of goldfinches and their 2 youngsters.

I saw a few swallows or martins, swirling and screeing overhead. Not something I've noticed often so I'm not very good at identification.

Saw lots, well at least 5, little wrens, flying out at head height from the "trampoline" oak tree and landing in a nearby weigelia bush. They were accompanied by a robin. Don't know whether he stirred them up enough to fly or whether he was an innocent flybystander.

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
