Trimmed the manky leaves off the tomatoes. Planted a 30 ltr tub with sprouting potatoes. Pulled up lots of montbretia & put the roots in the waste bin, chopped up the leaves as mulch.
Went to a garden centre and wasn't tempted to buy anything.

Ooo er, Vinny, that's a bit of a blow. You'll have to go busking or summat.

And,.. Kato says I have to fix it so we can go travelling again!

Booked in for Sunday, hope to get it back repaired on Tuesday?

Finished digging out the holly bed (it’s next to a holly, it’s not going to be full of holly) . Plant lots of surpluses things in the post box bed ( sunflower, honesty, corncockles, snap dragons, aubrieta, ). Planted 2 spare squash in a container far too small for them. But it’s the only chance they’re getting.

Started clearing a strip of ground (about 3' wide) in front of a 6' high chickenwire fence. My cunning plan is to stick some soft fruit cuttings (red & black currants) in the ground and create a new fruit bed. I'll be able to attach some bird netting to the wire and drop it down, over the fruit bushes. It won't stop the small birds but should stop the pigeons and blackbirds from pinching all the fruit - as they have this year.

A day of catching up doing routine maintenance that was too arduous in the heat. Tying in, armpitting and pruning lower gh tomato leaves for air circulation. Ditto for outdoor ones. Planted a few well overdue CFB and some sacrificial nasturtiums. Picked MT, courgettes, broccoli, cucs & toms. Weeding and tidying up. Unfortunately not a lot to show for a day's work.
