The May Bugs/Cockchafers arrived a day early  - yesterday! They were flying into the windows, annoying the dogs. Spud did his usual trick of eating one.  Sick

Mummy greater spotted woodpecker visited with a youngster. Youngster had obviously been told to have a bath but wasn't quite sure how. It had a bird bath, a waterfall, a water saucer and a pond within feet but it tried to bath in a tablespoon of water on the pond surround paving. It finally found the waterfall after nearly falling headfirst into the pond. Mum found a peanut and tempted it away from the water, probably safer that way.

I saw the duck momma with her three little ducklings in the pond today! How sweet Smile

And other birds identified only via the app Merlin Bird ID: great tit, eurasian blackbird, eurasian blackcap, nuthatch and willow warbler. It is amazing how many birds we have here, and I have no idea what they are from their song. This app is such good fun Smile

A Wren's building a nest in the lean-too outside the kitchen door, so lots of in and out trips.
