Work this morning. More seed sowing this afternoon . Turned another bale of coir into usable compost. Turned my first practice skep, that I didn’t give Bob for Christmas, into (hopefully) a bumblebee house. Only time will tell.

A bit of a stressful day, picked up the new car. It took the sales lady an hour to put me through using all the bells, wingdings and whistles and even then I nearly couldn't figure out how to get out of their forecourt.

Snapped sideshoots off the overwintered Sungold tomatoes and popped them in a jar of water to root.
Grabbed a hand saw and hacked away at the overgrown fig tree.
Mowed the lawn and spread the clippings around the beds.

This is Veg Plot 7 (VP7) which needs a bit of work to make it growable! But, I like a challenge.
The metal structure on the right is the remains of 3 xGHs that were joined together. Over the years its suffered and last winter, 2 of the side panels blew down. Today, having found the right spanners, I dismantled the fallen down pieces and started to de-weed the ground beneath.
Also scattered some old rainbow chard seeds in VP4 beneath a little plum tree.

Far too much work going on at the moment. Only managed to check all the seedlings looking for new arrivals. Picked up stones to stop bobs new toy ( ride on mower) getting its blades damaged. They all got used for ditch filling. Then helped bob hang the gate.

No gardening today apart from carrying seedlings about.

Transplanted the "early tomato seedlings into individual modules.
Planted 2 Courgette seedlings into a 30 litre pot in GH2, having pulled out the white radish that were in there - added those to the hotbin. Covered them with a bell cloche.
All the courgette and cucumber seedlings have been in GH2 overnight for a week or two. I cover them up late afternoon with some clear plastic. They seem to be coping with the below freezing night-time temperatures OK.
Did some raking out of old grass in the middle garden, where I'll be scattering flower seeds soon.
Smashed up some rotting wood onto the paths.

Went down to the allotment. Roughly weeded most of a large bed, especially around the roses and rhubarb. Spread some manure and homemade compost around. Saw a woodpecker.

Sown seeds, finished filling the veg bed, put wind brake up behind it. And covered with weed fabric until it’s planting time. Started filling another cottage garden bed. Helped with putting in a latching post.

Potted up my dahlia tubers to start them off indoors. I keep saying I'll give up because I always lose then over winter, and last year I got a load of freebies that did nothing at all, but here I am.
