Cleared some algae from the pond.
And moved the potted chillies from their winter cold store into the sunny living room. I wonder how many have survived?

Acquired a couple of sets of wooden shelving - 3 shelves high. Decided to put one set in the garden tool shed. The shed was full of flatpack cardboard boxes that I picked up years ago when my plan was to lay cardboard down to smother weeds. Worse still, some little creature had been gnawing away at the cardboard and there was chewed cardboard and droppings everywhere.
The good news is that, somebody on the Free site wanted flatpack boxes - so I've offered her all the intact boxes. The chewed and damp ones will either be burnt or laid on weeds as originally intended.
Having emptied all the rubbish out, I sprayed lots of Jeyes Fluid around, put the shelves in position and loaded them up with garden tools. Progress!
Scattered lots of old sweet pea seeds by some wire netting. Good luck little seeds.

I've not actually done any of this today, but I've not had the time to update you for a while on what I've been up to.
We have a little cottage on our land that is a chicken house. Far too nice to remain a chicken house forever, but for now, we're clearing it out to have chickens there. So last weekend we emptied it all out of everything we dumped in there when we moved in.
All my gardening stuff has gone into a room in the barn that will be my potting shed. It's as warm and light in there as I can expect and I'm chuffed not to have to spend time in the dark basement!
All the other stuff has been sorted to some degree, and Jay is working diligently at sorting the rest into some kind of order in the rest of the barn
I've also marked out three beds that I want on the bank between the pond and the house. It's very sandy there, I discovered when I collected soil to use in potting up my seedlings.

Filled a wheelie bin with dead brambles and weeds.
Sowed some Hoverfly mix seeds around the perennial cauliflowers that were planted a few days ago.
Lots of clearing and raking in VP6 and VP7.
A sunshiny day in the garden.

Had a cold for the last several days, so mostly rested and checked on seedlings in the cold frame. It's the time of year I start planning/fretting over the type of supports I'll need for beans and trombas. We get some wind of the plot and I have had some thin metal arches and bamboo structures blown over. So, basically nothing but noodling this weekend despite the fine weather.

Raked up the debris .in VP7. Need to spend some more time there before I can turn it into a growing space - but its getting there.
Scattered more Hoverfly seeds around some kale plants and some old Black Spanish radish seeds between the elephant garlic plants.
Moved the courgette and cucumber seedlings out of the bedroom and into GH2. Covered them over tonight to lessen the shock!
Planted 6 paperwhite narcissi bulbs in a tub that is already planted with summer lilies.
You may have spotted the common theme here - doubling up of plants in the same spot. I'm not just mean with money.

I spent the whole day weeding, mostly getting creeping buttercup out of the bluebells.
