Removed most of yesterday’s string lines, that were marking out veg beds. The few I left I put bigger stakes into so the string lines are out of entanglement reach of dogs & strimmer. Strimmed and levelled the area where the rhubarb tractor tyres are going. And laid some weed fabric. Strimmed the area where the first veg bed will be going.

I used electric fence rope/wire to string out my beds . My beds  have no sides and the stringline has stayed in position for the last three seasons. Smile

Removed covers from fence bed and put them on cut flower bed. Started filling fence bed with a mix of farm manure and contents of house foundations hole (peat/ soil ).

I've potted up seedlings that have sprouted and put them under the growlight with the rest of them. Even my Lincolnshire roadside hollyhocks have come up! LAst time I sowed them, they didn't come up at all.
I've sown four different kinds of onions today: Leek Lyon Prizetaker, Yellow sweet Spanish, Welsh and Ishikura
Found some more sweet pea seeds too (Horizon), so I sowed them too.

I think I forgot to mention that a few days ago, I sowed:
Cosmos from Proserpina
Cosmos Palidor mixed
Salvia Blaze of fire from Jen
Celosia
Watermelon Sugar Baby

The office is getting tight now, and not a lot of space under the growlights. I need more growlights. Snow has fallen tonight lol

It seems wondrous to me that you're sowing all these whilst it still snowing. Smile  Have you got a greenhouse Sarriss?

haha yeah, maybe it is wondrous... and we've had yet more snow today. I don't have a greenhouse yet, but I do have two tunnels that are going up as soon as possible. I need my partner to come back from the UK to build the bases for me. There will be a thread all about that coming soon.
I do have a room downstairs that I use, with growlights, and I have a spare bedroom upstairs that will be able to house some plants as/if they grow. I have big windows too, and if I have to, I'll cat proof the window sills for plants too. They are all kept quite cold though - the room downstairs that hold all the plants at the moment is currently at 14 degrees, so I am hoping it will hamper the growth quite a lot, so that they don't grow too fast.
I'm hoping to achieve getting a fair bit of sowing done without getting inundated with lanky plants, as I am hoping to be back in a job shortly.

There's a fair bit of hope there Sarriss, fingers crossed for you.

Work this morning while Bob was collecting the first tractor tyre. We got home at the same time. So I helped with unloading of that. Then we went and collected a second one. Got that back unloaded and put into place. Rest of the afternoon I spent digging out the turf ( mostly rushes ) from the centre of one tyre.

More playing with tractor tyres. Finished digging out turf. Collected 6 buckets of gravel from the beach for drainage in the bottom. Then spent the rest of the day filling one of them with manure and soil.

Nothing much in the garden today - too cold - just some raking up of cut brambles. I try to let the leaves dry up and fall off in situ. The dried stems are
piled onto the bonfire heap.
